Tribute to Janice Morgan
Aunty Jan
Aunty Jan was an extra special Aunt
One who left a lasting footprint on my heart
Always there to listen, advise and play
Whilst gently taking my worries away.
Jan’s love of Wales was clear to all
The rugby , Eisteddfod and her precious Porthcawl
A place she spent her childhood with brother Andy and cousin Carole in tow
Watching the Rest Bay tide rise high and fall low.
A Welsh lady who travelled afar ,
Living in Canada and making her mark
On the business world who watched in awe
As this kind , clever , lady began to soar .
Jan’s beloved Highgate captured her heart
And she always ensured she played her part
Community gatherings , carols in the square, hosting suppers and drinks parties and of the Highgate Society, she was Chair .
Jan loved her community and a lot of you here
Will have spent time talking about subjects
That she held so dear .
Politics , business, sport , travel, helping people in need
You could always count on Aunty Jan to bring you up to speed
With news of the latest trend, theatre show , opera or ballet
Jan was a lady who truly led the way .
A great traveller
Jan loved to send postcards wherever she went
Deciphering her handwriting a sometimes challenging event
Always thinking of others, remembering dates
Anniversaries, birthdays, any cause to celebrate .
Sport was a passion and a true supporter was Jan
Wimbledon, the Olympics, skiing, golf tournaments and Wales’ biggest rugby fan
She cheered and she talked and brought everyone together
To chat about the game and support Wales forever .
A special talent of Jan’s
Was to notice life’s precious gifts all around
The spring bulbs blooming early , the sun shining brightly in the sky , the birds singing sweetly
whilst life passes us by.
She never failed to stop and notice the hard work people do ,
she made time to tell us all how she valued me and you .
Time is a gift that we all must use wisely
Aunty jan never once failed to surprise me
In the huge effort she made with every person she met,
A friend, colleague, acquaintance, she would never forget
The stories they told her of people they knew
and next time she saw them she would recall their view
A talent that many of us can only dream of achieving
Jan made it look easy whilst always believing
In the good of the world , to encourage and share, see the best in every being and always be there.
40 Southwood Avenue was a home to so many
Always an open door, a bed ,warmth and love a plenty
Jan loved to host , look after and spoil
So many experienced London travelling from abroad to British soil .
A second Mum to so many we all loved you so,
A cultural trip to the museum, a meal out, the ballet or a west end show.
We will miss you forever , London will never be the same , but know that our love for you will always remain.
Jan’s greatest passion in life were her friends and her family
She always made time to listen, talk, have fun and plan adventures happily
The greatest daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin, friend and colleague there ever was
We hope you know how brightly you shone just because
Of your patience , your wisdom, your humour , your love, your positivity , your kindness we will feel from above.
I can’t finish this poem without a special mention for Jan’s brother
A relationship far superior than any other
They looked after each other and lived a life that was full
Of love and adventure and together they faced
Every challenge head on, together , as one
A bond that can never be broken and I know will go on.
Aunty Jan we love you and will miss you forever
I will think of you every day and I will be better
At all the little things you reminded me to notice ,
I am so thankful for you my Aunty Jan Morgan , the greatest .
